Mary Dale Peterson, M.D. currently serves as a staff anesthesiologist at Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. She is a clinical associate professor of anesthesia at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, vice president of Driscoll Children’s Health System; and president and CEO of Driscoll Children’s Health Plan.

In addition to serving as the Society’s assistant treasurer since 2010, Dr. Peterson has served on various ASA Committees throughout her membership including:  chair of the Committee on Physician Resources (2008-2009), participation in the Reference Committee on Professional Affairs (2009),  and her current involvement with the Committee on Membership (since 2007),  etc.  Dr. Peterson also served as president of the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists from 1999-2000, in addition to holding notable positions with other specialty affiliations.  She currently chairs Texas’ Quality Based Payment Advisory Committee.

Dr. Peterson received her medical degree from, and completed her Anesthesiology Residency (Chief) at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) at Galveston.  She also earned a master’s of science degree in Health Care Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio. She is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, and was inducted by the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists into the Betty P. Stephenson Circle of Friends.

Dr. Peterson and her husband, Rafael Coutin, M.D., live in Corpus Christi, Texas along with the youngest of their three sons.
