Vice President for Scientific Affairs
Arnold J. Berry, M.D., M.P.H., currently serves as vice president for Scientific Affairs of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA). Dr. Berry is a professor of anesthesiology, director of the Office of Continuing Medical Education and assistant dean for Education at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta.
Dr. Berry has served in various leadership roles and on a multitude of ASA Committees. He is on the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research and has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education. Dr. Berry also served as president of the Georgia Society of Anesthesiologists in 2007.
Dr. Berry received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania and completed his medical internship, Anesthesia Residency and Cardiac and Research Fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his M.P.H. from Emory University in Atlanta. Dr. Berry was the recipient of the ACCME Hero Service Award (2007), as well as the SEA-Duke Award for Excellence and Innovation in Anesthesia Education (2009).
Dr. Berry and his wife, Heleen, live in Atlanta and have three sons.
