President's Message

ASA welcomes our members and anesthesiologists from all over the world to ANESTHESIOLOGY 2012. This year's meeting will be held in the center of our nation's capital. Its theme,
Transforming Patient Safety Through Education and Advocacy, is especially appropriate, coming less than a month before our national elections. Our ability to advocate for practices that make anesthesia safe is at the core of our values as a specialty. Advocacy is most effective when advocates are well educated in the critical issues related to the science and practice of anesthesiology. The opening session features James Carville and Mary Matlin, two well known pundits at different ends of the political spectrum sure to get the the meeting off to a stimulating start. Surrounding the meeting are many monuments, museums and historical places sure to enhance the meeting experience. Please join us for an exciting time in an historic location.
