Summary: Seventeen states have opted out of the federal requirement for physician supervision of nurse anesthetists. The list includes Iowa, Idaho, Nebraska, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Kansas, North Dakota, Washington, Alaska, Oregon, Montana, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Colorado, California and Kentucky.
