ASA Nominates Marc L. Leib, M.D., J.D., to AMA Committee on Payment and Delivery Reform

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) nominated Marc L. Leib, M.D., J.D., to be a member of the American Medical Association’s (AMA) Physician Payment and Delivery Reform Leadership Group Organizing Committee. ASA believes that Dr. Leib possesses the requisite experience and expertise, including extensive knowledge of innovative payment and health care delivery models and practice economics that the Organizing Committee seeks. This committee will be examining physician-led payment and health care delivery reform.  The focus will be on how to achieve payment and delivery reform, overcoming hurdles and the effects these innovations will have on patient care and practice economics.

Dr. Leib is the current chief medical officer at the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) in Phoenix. He received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University, his medical degree at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, and his juris doctorate at the University of Arizona College of Law. After completing a surgical internship at the University of California at San Diego, he completed an anesthesia residency and a neuro-anesthesia fellowship at the University of Wisconsin.
