ASA Sends Joint Letter to The Joint Commission Concerning Medication Management

The American Society of Anesthesiologists, along with the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, American Academy of Anesthesiologist Assistants and the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation, submitted a joint letter to The Joint Commission summarizing a number of concerns related to medication management and urged action.  Relevant issues discussed include labeling of syringes and containers, medications for patients in transport to recovery areas, medication security and locked carts, and informed consent.
