The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) selected ASA to receive the "Group Recognition Award for superior achievement of the Agency’s mission through teamwork, partnership, shared responsibility or collaboration to achieve FDA goals."
The FDA pointed out ASA’s leadership in launching the "Preventing Surgical Fires Initiative" as part of the FDA’s Safe Use Initiative. ASA’s efforts were instrumental in "increasing surgical personnel awareness of factors that contribute to surgical fires, disseminating surgical fire prevention tools and promoting the adoption of risk reduction practices throughout the healthcare community."
The award is a testament to ASA’s continued strive to improve patient safety. ASA thanks members participating in this important initiative.
