June 1st marks first day to register for Open Payments (Physician Payments Sunshine Act)

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

Beginning June 1, 2014, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will allow physicians to register for Open Payments. Open Payments, also known as the Physician Payments Sunshine Act, requires drug and device manufacturers, and group purchasing organizations to report payments, or transfers of value, to physicians. By registering, physicians will have the opportunity to review and correct the reported data in July before it is made public. While the reporting burden is on drug and device manufacturers, physicians should be prepared that drug and device manufacturer payments to physicians will be made public on September 30, 2014.

On June 1st you may begin to register on the CMS Enterprise Portal by clicking here.
