Lee A. Fleisher, M.D., was appointed to the
National Quality Forum's (NQF) Consensus Standards Approval Committee (CSAC) for the July 2012 through the June 2014 term on June 19, 2012. The primary responsibilities of CSAC are to make endorsement decisions regarding national voluntary consensus standards. The importance of NQF has increased dramatically in the last few years as it now serves as the sole national consensus organization through which performance measures are vetted for inclusion in such programs as the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS). Thus, Dr. Fleisher's appointment is significant for ASA.
