At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
Describe and perform the ultrasound technique for nerve localization and visualization of local anesthetic spread.
Demonstrate skill in needle tip placement using ultrasound guidance.
Describe and understand the uses of ultrasound guidance for continuous catheter insertion for prolonged peripheral nerve blockade.
Demonstrate competency in equipment operations and identification of major nerves including brachial plexus, femoral, sciatic nerves and other peripheral nerves.
Explain the impact of ultrasound guided techniques on safety and ethicacy in regional anesthesia.
Identify pertinent anatomical relationships to optimize proficiency of technology.
