ASA Works With Other Specialties in Effort to Update Data Used to Calculate Practice Expense Payments
Chicago —
(September 17, 2009)
In order to insure that legislative and regulatory parties have complete information, ASA has joined with other specialties in sending a letter to Congress. The CMS Proposed Rule for the 2010 Medicare Physcian Fee Schedule includes a redistrubtion of practice expense payments based on several factors including a recent survey conducted by the AMA and more than 50 specialty societies.
Letter to Congress regarding Practice Expense
We take this action because a few specialties have been advocating that this new data not be used as it will result in lower payments to them. In the letter to Congress, ASA and other specialties address the issues raised by these groups.
