Donald Berwick, M.D., Sworn in as CMS Administrator

Chicago — (July 7, 2010) 

On Monday, July 12, physician and Harvard professor, Donald Berwick, M.D., was sworn in to become the next administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

President Obama appointed Dr. Berwick as Administrator of CMS, via a recess confirmation last week. Because this is a recess confirmation, Dr. Berwick bypassed Senate hearings and will only be allowed to serve in this capacity through December 31, 2011.
