Reporting new PQRI Measure 193

Chicago — (December 15, 2009)

Anesthesiologists who participate in the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) in 2010 will have a new measure on which to report – Measure 193 (Perioperative Temperature Management).  The intent of the measure is to reduce the incidence of perioperative hypothermia of which the primary cause is anesthetic-induced impairment of thermoregulatory control.

Please use the following information from ASA and CMS on how to report Measure 193 in 2010.  As a reminder, successful participants in PQRI are eligible for a 2% incentive payment based on their total Medicare allowed charges for the reporting period.
