Mission Details
We need interim anesthesia services as our designee completes his anesthesia training. We need volunteers for at least two weeks and up to one year. Patient Care: Primary regional anesthesia with occasional GA for abdominal surgery. Religious Affiliation: Major partner for the project is SIM, an interdenominational international mission organization.

Facilities
New 45 bed dedicated fistula care facility completed Feb. 2012. One large operating theater with 3 tables. Basic anesthesia machine and supplies. Co-located with 55 year old leprosarium. Full range of facilities for care related to child birth injury. Security: Closely monitored; at present no acute threats. Problems in Niger mostly limited to uranium mining areas far in the north. In country transport by mission aviation vastly improves safety.

Expenses: Travel and lodging expenses are provided by the Worldwide Fistula Fud. In addition, WFF will cover food and any other Niger related expenses.

Description The Worldwide Fistula Fund has just opened a state of the art fistula center in the west African country of Niger. The project is 15 years in the making, and provides comprehensive services for women in west Africa that are impacted by an obstetric fistula. We have a team of providers on the ground that include a fistula surgeon, hospital director, nursing staff and other medical providers, but we are in great need of anesthesia assistance.
