What We Do - American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA)

What We Do

The Society’s top priority is to raise and maintain the standard of the medical practice of anesthesiology and improve patient care.  ASA’s educational activities cover the full continuum of an anesthesiologist’s practice.

ASA Annual Meeting: The premier educational and training event for anesthesiologists.  Content is presented using a variety of learning formats and more than 700 sessions are designed in nine clinical tracks.  Approximately 15,000 anesthesiologists and healthcare professionals attend the ASA annual meeting each year.

ASA Conference on Practice Management:  The conference focuses on updating anesthesiologists and practice managers on timely topics such as new government regulations or policies, tools to benchmark performance, trends in the workforce, and the latest payer challenges for anesthesia practice.

ASA Monitor:  The flagship monthly magazine of the profession that covers incisive opinions, diverse views and Society information.

Anesthesiology:  The world’s leading peer-reviewed research journal in anesthesia.

ASA Education Center: A customized on line learning management system where members can go to quickly access educational offerings in a variety of formats, many of which offer CME credit.

ASA is committed to working alongside our members, leaders and company representatives to adapt and provide leadership to our specialty and its stakeholders.
