Physician Anesthesiologists Encouraged to Review Their 2016 Physician Compare Performance Information - Extended Deadline: December 1

UPDATE: Due to a technical issue preventing the data from properly displaying in the preview portal, the Provider Quality Information Portal (PQIP), all data were not viewable for the first week of preview. This display issue has now been resolved.

The preview is extended through Friday, December 1 at 8 p.m. ET to provide more time for clinicians and groups to preview their performance data as a result of this technical issue.

The Physician Compare 30-day preview period is officially open. ASA members can now preview their 2016 performance data as it will appear on Physician Compare later this year. ASA members can access the secured measure preview site through the PQRS portal - Provider Quality Information Portal (PQIP).

Check out the Preview Period Toolkit for helpful resources on how to preview the data:

Note that few anesthesia-specific measures or measures that were available in the 2016 Anesthesia Quality Institute Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR) may be available for review, due to minimum inclusion criteria required by Physician Compare. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) requires that the measures not be considered new measures within the reporting year as were many 2016 AQI QCDR measures. CMS also requires a minimum number of providers to report a measure for it to be displayed. Because Physician Compare is a consumer-facing resource, CMS also requires quality measures and scores be displayed in plain language text that can be understood by patients.

The 30-day preview period will close on November 17, 2017 at 8 p.m. ET Friday, December 1 at 8 p.m. ET.

If you have any questions about Physician Compare, public reporting, or the 30-day preview period, please contact ASA at
