While central Boston is small and compact, travel time throughout the city can take longer than anticipated due to the complex network of narrow roadways, one way streets and time-based traffic restrictions.
Urban myths often describe Boston traffic as a challenge. While Boston, like any major city, does experience its share of rush-hour traffic woes, gridlock is certainly not the norm. In fact, since the completion of the “Big Dig,” auto travel has improved considerably. Here are a few tips that will improve your chances of a speedy trip to and from the BCEC: • Rush hour is generally from 7 – 9:30 am and 4 – 6:30 pm. Try to avoid these times, if possible, or leave a half-hour cushion to arrive on time. • Places to avoid during rush hour: I-93/I-90 intersection, Storrow Drive/Hatch Shell area, Atlantic Avenue. • Major roads clog up first, but Boston offers many side streets that are often good alternatives.
Plan extra travel time between your hotel and the BCEC.
Nearest Area Airport
Logan International Airport (BOS)
Approximately 3 miles (15 minutes) from the Logan International Airport to downtown Boston.
Estimated taxi fare: $25 – $30 (one way)
Staying "within the block" is also more convenient and helps you stay connected with the informal activities and networking opportunities that occur within the ASA hotel community during the meeting. Please note that conference attendees who do not make their reservation within the ASA room block may not receive the same discounted rate or benefits. Click here to view the Hotel map.

Through the travel experts at onPeak, ASA has negotiated and secured a number of reduced-rate hotel rooms to help with your trip to Boston. Rooms at the group rate are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to book early for the best hotel selection and price.
To book your hotel reservations online, please visit the official ASA hotel website, or to book by phone, contact the onPeak offices at (866) 940-0942 between 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. (CST).
In an effort to support our hotel block in Boston, demonstrate best practices in hotel management, and reduce meeting expenses, the Committee on Annual Meeting Oversight (AMOC) and ASA Leadership are supporting the following policy: save $100 USD on your registration fee by staying within the official ASA hotel block. The deadline to reserve a hotel room is September 12, 2017.
Attendees that book housing in the official ASA hotel block and later cancel their reservation will have the $100 USD savings automatically reversed. Please direct any questions to the policy to annmtg@asahq.org.

ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2017 Designated Hotels
Reserve your room through ASA: Beware of third-party agents
Room poaching is a practice carried out by third-party companies that act as travel agencies, wholesalers or destination management companies to solicit attendees, speakers and exhibitors for room reservations during our convention. The practice of room poaching makes it more difficult for us to meet our room block commitments and exposes ASA to penalties and increased room rates for future conventions.
Often room poachers or housing pirates may misrepresent themselves as ASA’s official housing provider and attendees and exhibitors may be contacted by fax, email or phone with offers for cut rate housing. The poacher might inform attendees, speakers and exhibitors that the hotel room block is “sold out,” and that if you do not book with them immediately, you may not get a room.
We strongly recommend you DO NOT book housing from any company that calls you directly or approaches via email that is not our official housing company, linked directly from the ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2017 website and displaying the Official Contractor logo. The safest way to secure your hotel room is directly through onPeak offices at (855) 992-3353 between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (CST).
