You may claim your credits at any time during or after the meeting by going to www.asahq.org/evals and entering your badge number and last name.


You may also claim credits at the meeting by visiting any of the credit kiosks located throughout the convention center. Beginning on Sunday morning, the Express Self Check-In stations at Registration will be used for credit claiming.


Please note: You must claim your credits for the meeting by December 31, 2017. You will NOT be able to claim credits after this date.

The ASA holds our meeting in October for a few reasons. William Thomas Green Morton, an American dentist first publicly demonstrated the use of inhaled ether as a surgical anesthetic on October 16, 1846 at the Ether Dome of the Massachusetts General Hospital. When ASA was founded, it made sense to honor the creation of anesthesia by holding the world's largest anesthesia educational meeting around that date.

In addition, we choose dates for the meetings based on the availability of reasonable rates for using the conference site, hotels, etc. We also try to schedule our meetings for a period of time when most academics around the world are available. This is usually early-October for European sites and mid-October for North American sites.

All annual meeting attendees will have access to all non-ticketed sessions including panels, subspecialty panels, clinical forums, point-counterpoints, refresher course lectures, poster sessions and poster discussions, and medically challenging cases. In addition, all attendees will also have access to the Connection Center including the Welcome and Wine Reception on Saturday, October 21.

Boston, Massachusetts enjoys mild weather in October with days of moderate temperatures and clear skies. Daytime highs hover between 60 - 65 degrees F, with an average low of about 47 degrees F.

Yes, all registered attendees may bring a guest to the meeting. However, no CME will be available for guests.
The Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel has been designated as the official Governance hotel.
All educational sessions will be held at the Boston Convention Center (BCEC), 415 Summer Street, Boston, MA 02210.
All refresher course lectures will be free to all attendees.
Exhibits will be open Saturday, October 21, 10:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.; Sunday, October 22, 9 a.m. –  4 p.m.; and Monday, October 23, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The ASA Bistro is an all-inclusive dining experience that offers a healthy and appetizing menu to convention diners on the show floor. Menu offerings change daily and include soup and  salad options, meat and vegetarian entrees, seasonal vegetables, side items, dessert and beverages. Tickets need to be purchased online through registration or on-site. This is not included in the annual meeting registration rate.

Yes, there will be beverages available Saturday and Sunday mornings and afternoons. There will also be snacks  available on Sunday. Beverages will be available on Monday morning as well.
Yes, complimentary continuous courtesy shuttle service is available between official ASA hotels and the BCEC.  View this year's Shuttle Route Schedule along with the Hotel Block Timing Schedule for alternative options for Uber/Lyft and Taxi service. 
The House of Delegates will be located in the West Ballroom of the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC), Ballroom Level. The HOD will meet on Sunday and Wednesday mornings.
The dress code for the meeting is business casual.
