Write a Resolution: Impact Our Future

Our annual meeting is just around the corner, October 12-17th, in San Francisco. There will be many events solely for residents.  One in specific I want to personally invite each of you to attend is the Resident Component House of Delegates on Saturday, October 13th. Our House of Delegates is the business meeting of the resident section. Where we will discuss issues and resolutions important to residents. In addition, we will hold our elections for the ASA Resident Component Governing Council.

The Resident House of Delegates considers resolutions on any topic pertinent to anesthesiology practice or anesthesia residency training. Resolution topics from the recent past include: Creation of a Medical Student Component of the ASA, Rural anesthesiology Rotation Study Bill, and Resident Insurance Programs for Substance Abuse Treatment.

Instructions on how to write an ASA resolution and how a resolution is processed by the ASA can be found on the ASA Resident Component Website.

Resolutions are due by September 15, 2007 and can be emailed to Sandy Cincotti (s.cincotti@ASAhq.org) or mailed to the following Attention: Denise M. Jones, Assistant Executive Director, 520 N. Northwest Highway, Park Ridge, IL 60068-2573.
We encourage anyone with a good idea to submit a resolution. Resolutions in the ASARC HOD set the priorities of the ASARC GC and offer material for excellent discussion during our meeting. If a resolution is approved it can definitely effect change and improvement our specialty.  Contact any member of the Resident Component Governing Council for assistance.

Be active and stay involved. Your future depends on it!
See you in San Francisco!

Sincerely,
