NURSES WHO BECOME DOCTORS
Some people have asked if one should become a nurse or a nurse
anesthetist before becoming a physician anesthesiologist. In effect,
you would be overlapping two different career paths and, therefore,
you are adding time (and money) to your educational plans perhaps
unnecessarily.
Interestingly, some anesthesiologists have started their careers
in nursing, however, became a nurse anesthetist, then went to
medical school to become a doctor and finally completed a residency
to become an anesthesiologist. Completing all of this training,
however, takes many more years than choosing one career path over
the other.
