Aside from the web sites and resources mentioned in the prior pages, the best idea is to try to find a component society that has similar goals to yours (which most should), has a good clean look that you like, and the content that you think your membership will value. Remember, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, especially in web design. There's a reason that all of the major airlines' web pages look similar. They work.
