ASA members will be pleased to learn that the Society has published "The HIPAA Privacy Rule in Anesthesia and Pain Management Practices." This ten-step manual, available either by way of the ASA Web Site or on CD-ROM, walks the reader through the steps that must be taken in order to bring a practice into compliance with the rule by the April 14 deadline. It contains sample forms and contracts that may be adapted to the needs of individual practices.
