University of Maryland MOCA Part IV

Maryland Anesthesiology Program in Simulation (MAPS) is the only ASA endorsed program in Maryland that offers MOCA simulation for civilian anesthesiologists. The center offers a first-rate educational course in a high-fidelity simulated environment specifically designed for ASA members which fulfills one requirement of the ABA’s MOCA Program Part IV. Physicians will actively participate in realistic scenarios that require management of critical events in a variety of settings. Each participant will rotate through different roles in the scenario, acting as primary anesthesiologist (“hot seat”) at least once. These sessions include the practical application of algorithms to manage perioperative events as well as highlight communication and teamwork skills.
