Dr. Johnstone Saluted By Dominion Post
Dr. Robert Johnstone, a professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at West Virginia University has been honored by The Dominion Post of Morgantown, West Virginia. In a recent article, The Dominion Post cited Dr. Johnstone as one of the area’s top 100 most influential citizens.
This most recent recognition is one of a long line of accolades Dr. Johnstone has received over the years going back to his military service where he finished his career as a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve at Walter Reed Medical Center.
Dr. Johnstone earned his medical degree at Ohio State University and comes from a long line of medical professionals including his father who was an obstetrician and mother, a surgical nurse. In addition, his daughter is also a doctor of endocrinology and his wife is a surgical nurse.
As an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) Dr. Johnstone has served on a variety of ASA committees such as Practice Management (2002-07), Chair of the Board Committee on Scientific Affairs (2005-07) and Chair of the Committee on Value-Based Anesthesia Care (1996-97).
In addition, he is a prolific writer and has been published in the Journal of The American Medical Association and in Anesthesiology.
He is extremely dedicated to West Virginia University and has been described as a “quiet force in the department.” According to Dr. Ralph Harding, a colleague at the university, “Dr. Johnstone is keeping WVU in the national forefront.”
