ASA Practice Advisory for OR Fires Featured on WLS-TV Chicago

Set for release this week, the ASA Practice Advisory on the Prevention and Management of Operating Room Fires was featured in an April 21 special segment “Surgery Emergency” on WLS-TV (ABC 7, Chicago). While profiling several patients who were victims of surgical fires, the segment focused on how with this advisory, ASA is taking proactive steps to educate and prevent the occurrence of the possibly devastating fires.

ASA member M. Christine Stock, M.D., professor and chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at Northwestern University, was interviewed for the segment and provided insight into key recommendations from the advisory.

The Practice Advisory on the Prevention and Management of Operating Room Fires is published in the May issue of the journal Anesthesiology.
