Chicago — (May 13, 2009)

The Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday held a roundtable to discuss options for financing comprehensive health system reform. The event was the last in a series of three roundtables to consider delivery system reform, health insurance coverage and health reform financing.

The event included experts on health care policy, tax policy and economics to discuss a variety of revenue and savings options as Congress develops a plan for health care reform. Senators and invited guests considered a number of ideas for finding savings to pay for health care.

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) has reiterated his commitment to mark up health care reform legislation by the end of June.

As the Committee and other key congressional stakeholders in the House and Senate move toward a solidified plan for reform, ASA continues its involvement in high-level discussions and is taking every opportunity to weigh in on reform options.
