House Democrats discuss Energy and Commerce Committee reform plan
House Democrats on Wednesday held a closed-door session to discuss a health reform plan currently under consideration by the House Energy and Committee. Notes from the closed-door meeting indicate that the Committee’s proposal includes a public plan managed by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
ASA remains open to a wide range of options for health reform, but if Congress decides to pursue a public option it cannot be an expansion of Medicare. ASA leaders, staff and members have consistently communicated this message to Congress.
