ASA Produces Patient Awareness Under Anesthesia Informational DVD
As part of continued efforts to keep members and the public informed of medical issues surrounding anesthesia and as leaders in patient safety initiatives, the American Society of Anesthesiologists has developed the “Patient Awareness Under Anesthesia” DVD, providing key information for physicians and patients on the condition.
Anesthesia awareness, also known as “intraoperative awareness” is an uncommon condition that occurs when surgical patients under general anesthesia can recall their surroundings, or even pain related to surgery.
The ASA “Patient Awareness Under Anesthesia” DVD has been posted for wide public viewing on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyPoIWSNxdQ
The DVD can also be accessed on the ASA Patient Education Web site.
