To
patients who are considering any office-based or ambulatory
procedure that involves anesthesia, ASA offers the
following advice: Ask who will be administering your
anesthesia as well as monitoring your condition.
Ask about what drugs, equipment and procedures are
available to help you in the event of a medical emergency.
Patients may also refer to ASA’s brochure, “Office-Based
Anesthesia and Surgery,” at http://www.asahq.org/patientEducation/officebased.htm,
for more information and for questions to ask.
