ASA Member Andy Harris, M.D., wins Republican primary for Maryland’s 1st Congressional District
Andy Harris, M.D., has won the Republican primary for Maryland's 1st Congressional District. Harris, currently a State Senator in Maryland, defeated incumbent Rep. Wayne Gilchrest 44 to 32 percent.
In the November general election, Harris will face Democrat Frank Kratovil, the States Attorney for Queen Anne County in Maryland.
Harris, a commander in the U.S. Naval Reserves, is an anesthesiologist and associate professor at Johns Hopkins University Hospital. He is also a past President of the Maryland Society of Anesthesiologists.
