Senate Passes Patient Safety Bill

More than eight months after favorable committee action, the Senate on July 22 found itself able to pass legislation by unanimous consent that would permit confidential reporting and analysis of medical errors.  The House had passed similar legislation early in the 108th Congress, and the two versions now head to conference.  Prospects for resolution of differences and approval by the White House before year-end appear quite good.
