WHAT
IS QA/PDX?
QA/PDX IS A RELATIONAL DATABASE QA information management system that will help you to
audit anesthesia quality efficiently and spot problems
as they arise. It allows you to track the incidence of
problems in your practice, not just totals for the patients
who had problems. Reports are divided into a variety of
relevant cohort groupings including ASA physical status,
anesthetic, provider, complication, and more. QA/PDX is
designed to make data entry, analysis and reporting easy.
It does this by providing you with a logical series of
menus that guide you in handling your expanding QA database.
You can import, create, edit, copy, merge, delete, and
rename data files, change data directories, modify lookup
tables, print over 20 different reports, review reports
graphically, and sort the database by following the online
instructions. If you make a mistake QA/PDX will prompt
you with the easiest possible correction. QA/PDX provides
extensive validity checking. During data entry, QA/PDX
watches to make sure that the data match predefined parameters.
QA/PDX keeps your data secure by providing password protection
and by converting providers initials into numerical codes.
Passwords, provider codes and lookup tables can be modified
by the system operator in the same menu-guided way that
QA/PDX guides the handling of patient information. The
size and number of QA data files is limited only by the
size of your fixed disk drive. Using QA/PDX is easier
than using most word processors.
QA/PDX,
CAN BE DOWNLOADED DIRECTLY FROM THIS SITE. Complete
the form below and you will be sent
e-mail instructions on how to access and download the
files. Installation is simple and fast: A directory is
created to hold the files, the files are copied to the
directory. When you type QAP, QA/PDX starts up with full
color, easy to understand interactive menus, with help
messages and context sensitive advice, where needed. A
shortcut (pif file) is included for users who wish to
run QA/PDX as a DOS program under Windows (Microsoft).
When run directly under DOS, QA/PDX automatically uses
all of your computers memory as efficiently as possible.
Because QA/PDX runs under DOS, you can find a use for
your old legacy 386 and 486 DOS based systems. In fact,
the instructions are written with this purpose in mind..
QA/PDX
COMES WITH A DETAILED USERS MANUAL. The manual, in Adobe
Acrobat format, has a complete table of contents listing
each of the features of QA/PDX. Complete step by step instructions
guide you in installing and using QA/PDX. A guide to general
QA principles is contained in the Appendices. The manual
is designed to make using QA/PDX simple and productive.
QA/PDX FEATURES
COLOR: When
referring to the accompanying figures, please note that
they are black and white screen prints. When run on a computer
with a color display, QA/PDX makes extensive use of color
in order to make data, field labels, parameters and choices
easy to find and distinguish.
DATA ENTRY AND BROWSING: Data,
originally entered on the QA audit form, is transferred
to the computer entry form (below, top left), which is a
visual metaphor for the paper audit form. QA/PDX shows you
the name of the data table, its size, number of new entries
and remaining disk space on the top line of the display.
QA/PDX shows you the meaning of frequently used special
function keys on the second line. Extensive validity checks
insure that only plausible data are entered, i.e. only choices
in parentheses, or values in user defined lookup tables.
A lookup table is used to check the spelling of abbreviations
of untoward events. This lookup table remains in the background
unless called when you press the help (F1) key. Then, a
list of events and their abbreviations appear (below, bottom
right). You can select an event by placing the cursor on
it and pressing F2; QA/PDX enters the event abbreviation
for you.QA/PDX's data entry error prevention methods protect
against data loss and corruption. QA/PDX has a special locating
feature that allows you to find the occurrence of any field
entry in a few seconds anywhere in the database; you can
search for the exact entry or one like it. Annotations may
be entered in the two memo type fields at the bottom of
the form. These two fields are used to compile one of the
summary reports.
