I have a great idea for a quality measure. Where can I send it?

Quality measurement is an increasingly important component of federal payment programs such as the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), The ASA continues to refresh and expand its portfolio of anesthesia-related quality measures for use in both federal payment programs and local quality improvement initiatives. As part of this process, the ASA conducts an annual open call for measure concepts, where members can submit proposals for new quality measures to be developed by the ASA and included in the AQI NACOR registry.

The open call for concepts is an opportunity for members to share feedback with the ASA on which metrics are the most meaningful for improving care locally within their practice. This is also an opportunity for members to inform ASA on which key topics within anesthesia care are of highest priority to them, including those practicing in specific subspecialties or care settings with few measures to report

The 2018 call for measure concepts is currently open through Wednesday, February 7th, 2018. All members are encouraged to submit a proposed measure concept on the ASA website. Submitted concepts will be reviewed and prioritized by the ASA’s Committee on Performance and Outcome Measurement. Concepts that have been prioritized for development will be made available for public comment in the summer of 2018. After the close of the open call for concepts, measure concept ideas can be emailed directly to qra@asahq.org for inclusion in the next year’s cycle of measure development.
