Committee News: ACE Is Now Even More APPlicable! Stacy Lynn Jones, M.D.
ACE Editorial Board

Looking for a fun and interesting way to earn continuing medical education (CME) credit, help fulfi ll your Part 2 Maintenance of Certifi cation in Anesthesiology (MOCA®) requirements or to generally test your knowledge? The Anesthesiology Continuing Education (ACE) program was designed to help you do all three, and it just got even better!

Now when you purchase the Web-based version, you get a complimentary app for your iPad®. The app provides access to the complete ACE program on your iPad, allowing you to take it anywhere regardless of whether you have an Internet connection. You only need to connect twice: once for the initial download and then upon completion to submit for CME credit. The app is easy to navigate, lets you take notes, allows you to answer questions by category or in random order and gives immediate feedback – just like the online version. In addition, when you do have an Internet connection, your answers will be synced between the app and the online program. This allows you to move back and forth between the two formats, maintaining the progress you have made, and provides more fl exibility in how and where you test your knowledge.

If you are unfamiliar with ACE, it is a self-study CME program that focuses on established, standard knowledge in the specialty. It is presented in an interactive question-and-answer format. Each question is associated with a brief discussion that highlights the main points and explains the rationale for each answer as well as provides references for further study. Tables and images help reinforce and illustrate the content. Some issues contain links to video clips, further bringing the content to life. The items in each issue are similar to the type of questions encountered on typical discriminating exams but have been carefully crafted and designed to be educational rather than to test a specifi c fund of knowledge. Many subscribers have found the program to be very useful in refreshing their knowledge in areas outside their daily practice. The contributing editors are all practicing anesthesiologists, many with subspecialty expertise.

ACE is accredited for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ and is available in either print or electronic formats. One annual subscription consists of two issues, published in April and October. Each issue contains 100 questions and is eligible for up to 30 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, for a total of up to 60 CME credits per annual subscription. To order ACE, just log on to the ASA Education Center (education.asahq.org) – your lifeline to learning
