Frost-free: S.S. White's non-freezing gas cylinder
Just 89 years ago this month, Philadelphia's S.S. White Dental Manufacturing Company was assigned a U.S. patent for a process "by which the excess moisture may be extracted from the nitrous oxid [sic] gas to produce a non-freezing, freeflowing product." By preventing frosty buildup, patients were less likely to awaken mid-procedure as the nitrous oxide-to-oxygen ratio plummeted.
