Marriott Properties in San Francisco Experiencing Labor Interruption/Strike

Attendees of ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2018 this week should be advised that seven Marriott hotels in San Francisco are currently experiencing a labor interruption or strike. National negotiations between Marriott and Unite Here Local 2 labor union will take place on Thursday, October 11 and Friday, October 12. It is anticipated that the strike will still be in effect upon most attendees’ arrival.

No disruption to front desk service (check-in and check-out process) is expected. There is potential impact when entering and exiting the Marriott properties, as well as food and beverage and housekeeping service. Please note that ASA is working closely with each Marriott property to understand specific modifications in housekeeping and food and beverage service. All attendees with reservations at these seven hotels should receive a customized communication from OnPeak on Wednesday, October 10 regarding details about potential service modifications in their specific hotel. ASA will continue to work with its Marriott contacts who have assured the Society they will do everything possible to ensure a smooth, professionally executed meeting with minimal disruptions.

If you are an ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2018 attendee at a Marriott property and you have a concern or question about the strike, please get in touch with Danielle Urbina, ASA director of meetings and exhibits at (224) 240-4099 or d.urbina@asahq.org or Brian Reilly, ASA chief operating officer at (224) 407-1995 or b.reilly@asahq.org.
