What to Know Before You Go

Important to Know

All events are held at the Moscone Center unless otherwise noted. The Moscone Center is comprised of three separate buildings: North, South and West buildings. The Center is nearing the completion of a $551M expansion that will offer brand new flexible space and many other amenities.  You will be experiencing a portion of the expanded center! Both North and South will have a small portion of the expanded building completed and available for use when we are there.

Travel Tips/Local Attractions
  • Use the dedicated shuttle and walking routes (PDF) to arrive to the Moscone Center quickly and safely each day.
    • The shuttle arrives approximately every 15 minutes. Download the ASA® My Meeting app for real-time updates!
  • Take in the sights of San Francisco by following this running route.
  • Check out a few local attractions while you’re in San Francisco.
  • Follow these important safety and travel tips; keep these in mind whenever you travel.
  • Arriving early? Pick up your badge at the satellite registration posts at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square or San Francisco Marriott Marquis.

Start Saturday morning with your peers at the Opening Session beginning at 9 a.m. in the South Building, Esplanade Ballroom—seating is limited so arrive early! ASA will be making an announcement that you won’t want to miss.

eAbstracts and Medically Challenging Cases 

Visit Hall D in the North Building of Moscone Center to participate and take part in discussions of over 900 e-abstracts and over 2,000 Medically Challenging Cases all presented electronically on large LED monitors.

NEW this year are Interactive Abstracts that will be in Room 21 of Moscone, North Building.

Self-Study Program

Participate at the designated kiosks located in the South Building, South Esplanade, Pre-function Area, or on your own device at your convenience.

  • Log in to the Education Center using your email and password on file with ASA.
  • Navigate to the My Courses tab and select the Self-Study module session.
  • There are 9 Self-Study modules (0.5 credits each) and two unique modules: Hypotension Matters - A Patient’s Journey on the Road to Hemodynamic Stability  (2 credits) and Postoperative Delirium (1.5 credits).
  • Click on the title to begin.
  • Education credit claiming is available upon completion in the annual meeting credit claiming system.

Refresher Course Lecture (RCL) Summaries

Access the RCL Summaries using your email and password on file with ASA through the Education Center.

Claim Credits

Visit asahq.org/evals to complete the meeting evaluation and claim your credits.

Selfie photo contest: We want to see your selfies! Post a photo of yourself or your group during your time in San Francisco, whether it’s a behind-the-scenes shot as you’re preparing for a presentation or an early morning selfie as you’re running to catch the shuttle bus.

Experience photo contest: Publish a photo that you believe shares your experience at the ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2018 annual meeting. It could show your favorite exhibit in the Connection Center, a view of the Golden Gate Bridge or a snapshot as you explore the San Francisco restaurant scene… we want to see what you’re up to!
