Presented by ASA Before COVID, medical professionals needed tools to prevent and manage burnout and experience optimal focus and effectiveness in their work and life. The pandemic underscored the necessity of practical tools for healthcare professionals. Studies have shown that, sadly, suicide among physicians is twice that of the general population and that 1 in 3 physicians experience burnout. This number has rapidly grown over the last year. Additionally, the pandemic has increased psychological stressors, with 93% of health care workers reporting stress, 83% experiencing anxiety, and 70% having difficulty with sleep. In this 90-minute experiential workshop, participants will learn about the scientific research supporting specific mind-body practices, including evidence directly in health care professional settings. Participants will also learn a few simple tools to support their physical and mental health, designed to ameliorate the stressors of a demanding lifestyle.
