The American Heart Association (AHA) and Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) are pleased to once again offer the co-sponsored AHA-FAER Career Development Award (CDA) to develop the next generation of physician-scientists in anesthesiology conducting cardiovascular and/or cerebrovascular disease related research. Applications are open now through December 6, 2021.
Administered by the AHA, the AHA-FAER CDA supports highly promising anesthesiologists holding an MD or DO in the early years of their first professional appointment. Recipients will explore innovative questions or pilot studies that will provide preliminary data and training to assure the applicant’s future success as a physician-scientist.
The standard AHA CDA typically constitutes $231,000 over a three-year period. For the co-sponsored AHA-FAER CDA, FAER contributed an additional $19,000 to bring the total funding to $250,000 over three years. This includes funding for awardees to attend FAER’s annual career development Mentored Research Training Grant (MRTG) Meeting twice during the three-year grant period.
Those interested in applying for the AHA-FAER CDA will need to follow the AHA’s CDA grant process, must fulfill all other eligibility requirements called for by the AHA CDA, as well as be an anesthesiologist holding either an MD or DO.
