Call for Volunteers

The Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research is seeking volunteers to join its Development Committee. This is a unique opportunity to build a network of professionals committed to advancing scientific discovery and its application in our specialty.

Description

The mission of the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research is to develop the next generation of physician-scientists in anesthesiology.

   1) Research

FAER’s is our specialty’s most ardent supporter of research. For 30 years FAER has advanced the careers of young investigators with an ever-expanding range of grants and programs. We now have career-building grants that for medical students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty.

   2) Education

FAER partners with ASA and subspecialty societies to facilitate physician education in fundamental and applied research, including hosting lectures, workshops and panels throughout the year.

   3) Training/Mentoring

New researchers need that spark of inspiration, and the deep commitment to implement their vision. However, inspiration and commitment aren’t enough. Our next generation of fundamental and applied scientists need practical guidance and training. FAER offers grants and programs to help young investigators throughout the early stages of their academic trajectory. These include summer research fellowships for students and residents, mentorship programs for young investigators, and scholarships for residents to attend the ASA’s annual meeting.

FAER is creating an endowment to ensure that scientific discovery remains the bedrock foundation of our specialty. We are pursuing many research and education funding opportunities. This is why our Development Committee is seeking volunteers. We want anesthesiologists who share our vision for the future of our specialty to join our efforts. The volunteer members of the FAER Development Committee will join with members of the FAER Board to share ideas, networking opportunities, and advocate for the Foundation to their peers.
