"Mentors teach young scientists the tools of the trade. Mentors introduce young scientists to the culture and community of discovery. Mentors share their vision, their calling, and their commitment to truth. Mentors form an invisible bond linking the generations of scientists who created today’s knowledge to the future scientists who will extend the boundaries of human understanding."

Pamela Flood, M.D., and Steve Shafer, M.D., both had mentors who invested significant time, effort, and resources in their careers. Their mentors imbued our work with the joy of discovery. "Strong mentorship is one of the reasons we both are committed to the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER)," said Dr. Shafer.

As previous FAER grantees, Drs. Flood and Shafer could not think of a better way to honor their mentors, Drs. Wood and Stanski. FAER's mission is to develop the next generation of physician-scientists in anesthesiology. The Foundation achieves this by awarding career-development research grants that rely on dedicated mentorship for success.

If FAER receives your donation by October 1, Drs. Shafer and Flood will match your donation up to a total of $5,000 and your mentor will be recognized at the FAER booth at ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2018.
