Target Audience This course is intended for practicing anesthesiologists, critical care specialists, emergency medicine practitioners, hospitalists, certified registered nurse anesthetists, anesthesiology residents and fellows. Learning Objectives: Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to: Demonstrate the ultrasound anatomy of the normal and abnormal heart with transthoracic echocardiography. Discuss the FUSA (Focused Ultrasound in Surgical Anesthesia) algorithm for hypotensive and hypoxemic patients. Practice flexible videobronchosopy of the proximal bronchial tree and perform insertion of various devices for lung isolation. Apply the main methods of lung isolation for one-lung ventilation in a lung anatomy model. Perform a focused airway examination of the neck with ultrasonography. Perform the technique for cannulation of internal jugular vein in a vascular anatomy model. Demonstrate the feasibility and usefulness of gastric ultrasound in preanesthetic aspiration risk assessment. Integrate acquired knowledge, skills, and clinical management in real clinical situations replicated by high-fidelity simulation. Apply ultrasonography as a point-of-care approach to enhance diagnostic accuracy in shock and respiratory failure scenarios.
