Self-nomination (to personally apply)
ASA members must complete a self-nomination form if they wish to volunteer for service. Committee and editorial board members whose terms expire in October 2019 must reapply in order to be considered for reappointment. Committee and editorial board members whose terms expire in 2020 or 2021 need not reapply at this time. (Many members participate with several groups, so active terms will display on the self-nomination form to the right of committees in which the member’s term ends in 2019 or after in order to avoid unneeded submissions. This will also help to expedite the chairs’ review process.)
Entering a colleague's name as a reference does not automatically notify them. If you would like a recommendation submitted on your behalf, they will need to be contacted directly.
Colleague nomination (to support another ASA member)
ASA members may recommend colleagues for appointments; please note that the recommended individual also must submit a self-nomination by January 15 in order for the colleague recommendation to be considered. This is intended to ensure that individuals nominated are willing to serve.

Spring 2019: Chair review nominees and make recommendations
- February 7 - 18: Committee chairs and editors-in-chief
- February 27 - March 18: Section chairs
- March 27 - April 8: Division chairs
The president-elect then makes appointments, and staff will ensure selections meet bylaws and administrative procedure requirements. Notifications are expected to be sent in June every year. Due to the large volume, it does take several weeks to send all notifications.
