“Anesthesiologists are the strongest patient advocates in the field of medicine and most trusted physicians regarding patients’ safety and well-being in their more vulnerable moments. It is an honor and a privilege to care for our patients and now I am equally honored and humbled to become a FASA.”
– Ramis Gheith, MD, FASA
“Since I was a resident, I viewed the FASA designation in the highest regard. It has been my goal to be the best cardiac anesthesiologist I can be and through this journey thus far, I felt now I would be honored to become a FASA. I would highly encourage my colleagues to be involved, strive to become a leader, and find a specific niche to thrive in.”
– Naeem Poursharif, DO, FASA
“Becoming a FASA member is the ultimate recognition of my involvement within the ASA so far. We all thrive as learners to become teachers, and this is one of the goals I had in my career.”
– Barbara Orlando, MD, FASA

Becoming a FASA signifies your commitment to the highest level of patient care and professional excellence. Congratulations to our newest Fellows of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (FASA)!
Active members who are approved as Fellows of the American Society of Anesthesiologists will retain the privilege of the FASA designation for as long as ASA membership is retained. If an Active Fellow member allows his/her ASA membership to lapse for greater than 1 membership cycle, the member must re-apply for the Fellow designation. The 5-years continuous membership restarts from the point the member rejoins ASA and the component society as an Active member.
Active Fellow members retain the FASA designation when they convert to ASA Retired member status only if Active membership is maintained up to approval of change in status.
If you have questions about the FASA program, please contact FASA@asahq.org, use Live Chat, or call your Member Services Team M - F, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. CT at (630) 912-2552.
