Learning Collaborative 2020

The American Society of Anesthesiologists and Premier, Inc. launched the PSH Learning Collaborative 2020 on May 1, 2018. It will run for two years.

The PSH Learning Collaborative brings together subject matter experts and leading organizations from across the country to learn from each other how to achieve the quadruple aim; gratify providers, improve population health, reduce care costs and satisfy patients.  The collaborative assists facilities in PSH pilot implementation, optimization and expansion into new service lines or system-wide conversion.

Facilities are all struggling to make the change to value-based payment. The collaborative is helping facilities overcome the challenges they face with Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA), Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), Advanced Alternative Payment Models (APMs) and participating in mandatory/elective bundles.  This effort is important because value-based payment is not only for public payers it is quickly being adopted by private payers as well.

The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) has joined the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Multi-Specialty Portfolio Programâ„¢ (Portfolio Program). Under the Portfolio Program, physicians who are Board Certified by one of the 20 ABMS Member Boards participating in the Portfolio Program, can now earn Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Improvement in Medical Practice (Part IV) credit for participating in the PSH Learning Collaborative 2020. Participants chose from two participation options to meet their institution's  unique needs:

Core Collaborative

Designed for organizations interested in learning more about the PSH model of care and those in the early stages of implementing a PSH pilot. Participants of the core collaborative should expect to gain access to resources and tools that focus on:

  • PSH pilot implementation
  • Perioperative care redesign in the PSH
  • Results of self-assessment tools, including:
    • MACRA, MIPS and APMs impact
    • Cost of implementing a PSH pilot
    • Financial and non-financial outcomes of implementing a PSH pilot
    • Readiness assessment
  • Leadership training on how to:
    • Track data
    • Demonstrate value
    • Establish trust
    • Establish meaningful goals
    • PSH health care landscape

Advanced Cohort

Created for organizations that are looking to optimize or expand their PSH pilot.  While receiving all the benefits of the Core Collaborative, the Advanced Cohort will also gain exclusive information about:

  • Optimization of a PSH pilot
  • System wide conversion
  • Taking advantage of voluntary bundles
  • Expansion of a PSH pilot to new service lines
  • Advanced leadership training
    • Change management
    • Communication beyond your peers and department
    • The difference between collaboration and cooperation
    • Calculating the impact of bundles

In addition to these participation categories, the PSH Learning Collaborative recognizes the need to support its Advanced Cohort members as they participate in various public and private bundle programs.  As such, a new add-on option is being offered.

NEW! Bundles Payment Add-On
The Bundles Payment option is exclusively available to Advanced Cohort participants. The Bundles Payment Add-on option supports institutions in identifying areas to effectively improve quality, share in savings, redesign care delivery and reduce costs.
