The Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF) is pleased to announce the 2014 APSF/ASA Endowed Research Award and the APSF/ASA President’s Research Award. These awards were announced at the annual meeting of the APSF Board of Directors in October 2013 for initiation in January 2014. APSF/ASA named grants are funded up to a maximum of $150,000 per grant.
The recipient of the 2014 APSF/ASA Endowed Research Award was Karthik Raghunathan, M.D., M.P.H., Duke University School of Medicine, for a study titled “Comparative safety of different types of IV fluids for resuscitation in the OR and ICU: An applied pharmacoepidemiologic approach.”
The recipient of the 2014 APSF/ASA President’s Award was Scott C. Watkins M.D., Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, for a study titled “Effect of technical and non-technical decision support tools on team performance in simulated pediatric crises.”
