| Meeting Information
for AMA House of Delegates |
Officials from the Society's Section Council on Anesthesiology
of the American Medical Association (AMA) would like to know the
names of the ASA members who are planning to attend the AMA House
of Delegates on December 7-11, 1996, in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Section Council is open to all anesthesiologists who attend
the AMA House of Delegates meeting. The Section Council meets
to discuss resolutions and other issues of importance to anesthesiologists.
Section council meetings usually take place on Saturday and Monday
of the AMA House of Delegates meeting. If you are attending the
AMA House of Delegates meeting, the Society would welcome your
participation.
To be placed on the mailing list to receive information on the
Society's AMA Section Council meetings, please send your name,
address, telephone number, fax number and reason for attendance
to Ronald A. Bruns at the ASA Executive Office, 520 N. Northwest

Refresher Course Scheduled in San Antonio
"Drug Delivery Systems of the 21st Century" and "Starting
a Pain Management Center" are two of the lectures offered
at the ASA Regional Refresher Course on January 25-26, 1997. The
program will be held at the Plaza San Antonio Hotel in San Antonio,
Texas.
Jeffrey L. Apfelbaum, M.D., is the program chair. The faculty
and their topics are:
- Beth Glosten, M.D., "Epidural Versus Spinal Anesthesia
for Cesarean Delivery" and "Obstetric Anesthesia Emergencies";
- Edward Lowenstein, M.D., "Coagulation in Cardiac Surgery
-- Old Problem: Old and New Solutions" and "Review
of Recent Information on Myocardial Ischemia";
- Charles H. McLeskey, M.D., "Awareness of Awareness During
Anesthesia" and "Update on Geriatric Anesthesia";
- Michael F. Mulroy, M.D., "Does Postoperative Analgesia
Make a Difference?" and "Regional Anesthesia for Outpatients";

Registrants are asked to choose one lecture of the two offered
in each time slot. Admission will be by ticket only. Tickets will
be enclosed in the registration packets distributed at the meeting.
ASA is approved by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical
Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education programs
for physicians.
ASA designates this continuing medical education program for
10 credit hours in category 1 of the Physician's Recognition Award
of the American Medical Association.
Registration is suggested by December 18, 1996. Registration
fees are $250 for ASA active members, $125 for resident members
and $600 for nonmembers.
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Plaza San Antonio.
A room reservation form will be sent upon enrollment. The form
should be returned directly to the hotel by January 2, 1997. Download
