FAER REPORT

Corporate Sponsorship Deserving of Recognition

The Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) celebrated its 10th year in 1996. Throughout its first 10 years, FAER sponsored more than 200 investigators, many of whom are now prominent leaders of the specialty. The future of anesthesiology would be threatened without this continuous development of new leaders and knowledge. FAER was able to sponsor these people and their projects due to strong and widespread supporters of the specialty. This support includes constructive ideas as well as financial commitments.

The FAER Board of Directors gratefully thanks all contributors to the Foundation. Contributors include ASA, anesthesiology subspecialty societies, component societies, individual anesthesiologists and corporations. Every donation helps the Foundation's ability to achieve its purpose to "raise the standards of the specialty by fostering and encouraging education, research and scientific progress in anesthesiology."

This article focuses on Corporate Sponsors. In 1996, Corporate Sponsors donated about $400,000; over FAER's 10 years, their total donations were in excess of $4 million. Many of these corporations have been committed to generously supporting the Foundation for years. FAER hopes that this level of support will not only continue but will increase in the coming years. We also hope that new corporations will join FAER in supporting the specialty.

FAER recognizes the importance of the Corporate Sponsors by increasing the visibility of these companies. FAER wants the anesthesia community to know these companies are supporters of their specialty. The Corporate Sponsors are acknowledged by:

  • Recognition in the FAER Annual Report;
  • Recognition on the FAER sign at the ASA Annual Meeting;
  • Listing in the ASA Annual Meeting Program;
  • Badge ribbons to be worn at meetings to identify the wearer as a FAER supporter;
  • Exhibit placards to be displayed so the anesthesia community is aware of the companies' support;
  • Awards supported by Corporate Grand Sponsors bear the company name, and publications by the recipient note the company as the sponsor. The corporate name is included in advertisements for FAER programs and are on the grant guidelines. Corporate Grand Sponsors are invited to be members of the FAER Advisory Council. FAER is grateful and pleased to acknowledge its sponsors in various levels of corporate giving:
