Special Airline Arrangements for the 1997 Annual Meeting

"Anesthetic Management of the Patient With a Pacemaker" and "Current Applications and Cost-Effectiveness of Transesophageal Echocardiography" are two of the 20 lectures offered at the Regional Refresher Course to be held in Phoenix, Arizona. The program will be held on Saturday and Sunday, January 23-24, 1999, at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix.

All lectures will relate to cardiovascular disease and outcome. Lee A. Fleisher, M.D., is the program chair. He will speak on "Preoperative Evaluation of the Patient With Vascular Disease" and "Risk of Anesthesia: How Far Have We Come and Where Are We Going?" The other faculty and their topics are: Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and International Travel Service (ITS), in cooperation with ASA, have made special arrangements to offer Annual Meeting participants discount air fares for the 1997 Annual Meeting in San Diego, California.

United Airlines will provide a special fare equal to a 5-percent discount off any United or United Express published fare in effect when tickets are purchased, subject to all applicable restrictions. For those passengers not qualifying for any published discounts, a 10-percent discount off unrestricted coach fares will be available. No advance reservations or ticketing is required.

Delta Air Lines is offering special rates that afford a 5-percent discount off Delta's published round-trip discounted fares within the United States and Canada. For those passengers not qualifying for any published discounts, a 10-percent discount will be offered on Delta's domestic system for travel to the meeting. The discount will be based on the published round-trip coach rates. No advance reservations or ticketing is required.

Valid travel dates for United will be October 13-27, 1997. In some cases, the discounts allowed by Delta and United may not be the most economical fare, depending on the routing and special promotion fares available. Delta and United will confirm the lowest rate at the time reservations are made. If you normally use the services of a travel agent, your agent may place your reservations through a toll-free number to obtain the same discount.

For reservations and information, call Delta Air Lines toll-free: (800) 241-6760 (continental United States and Puerto Rico), mentioning account No. E0202. Call United Airlines toll-free: (800) 521-4041, mentioning account No. 599SI. Call ITS toll-free: (800) 621-1083.
