1999 ASA Art Exhibit Award Winners Honored in Dallas

Now in its 34th Year, the ASA Art Exhibit ended the millennium with a successful show in Dallas. ASA attendees made more than 4000 visits to enjoy the 86 works that included painting, photography, poetry, weaving, drawings and crafts. The Art Exhibit Committee spent hours on Saturday preparing for the judges, Dr. John Stone, Marilyn Walgore and Murray Smither, who privately viewed entries and contemplated their choices for awards. At the Reception Sunday evening, artists and guests went straight to their favorite pieces to see if they had been awarded a ribbon. And, as in previous shows, many entries served as the focus of discussion about techniques, style, color, and presentation. Artists and their families renewed old friendships, and posed for photos in front of their works.

We on the Committee are grateful for the pride and talents of those who showed their work, which, again, evoked very positive comments from the judges. We also thank Judy Rabern from Emory University, who has done a terrific job organizing data and communicating with artists.

The Committee chose "Faces" as the theme for the year 2000 show in San Francisco. We have begun work on locating judges, selecting space in the Moscone Center, and fine tuning the many details of assembling this exciting event at the Annual Meeting.

Help us make the 2000 show a suitable beginning to a new millennium by sharing your talent in any medium. For Exhibit guidelines, please write or contact ASA Headquarters.
